WAIMARINO ART AWARDS 2019 GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

1.ELIGIBILITIY: a) These awards are open to anyone normally resident in New Zealand. Only entrants NORMALLY resident in the Ruapehu
District are eligible for the â€˜Best Entry from The Ruapehu category’ Novice categories are only open to entrants who have not entered the Waimarino Art Awards previously. Junior and Youth categories are age restricted as detailed in clause 2 below

   

2 . ENTRY FEES 2018 Adults

Two Entries ALL FEES MUST BE PAID BY FRIDAY 14 JUNE 2019 $55.00

$25.00 PLEASE NOTE: Do not enter complete NCEA Art Boards. Individual works only please. $15.00

3. LIMIT OF ENTRIES: 2 entries per entrant in total over all categories. In the event of high numbers of entries, we will use entrants’ nominated first selection, as stated on their entry form and refund the entry fee for second entries if applicable.

4. SUITABILITY: Please see Individual Category Conditions at www.waimairinoartawards.co.nz for requirements for each category
a) All entries to be suitably finished & ready to hang/display. See individual category conditions for hanging/display requirements for that category.

b) All works must be originals completed within last year.
c) Copying from other works must be acknowledged with the words "After the work of ............. "
d) The WAA Committee reserve the right to withdraw any work considered to be: of inferior quality, in infringement of copyright laws, of an offensive nature or not ready to hang. Some entries may be withdrawn if space is at a premium. You will be personally notified if this clause applies to your entry.

5. ENTRY FORMS: Entry forms to be completed entirely & legibly . An official artist’s statement template will be emailed to entrants who indicate on their entry form that they wish to complete one. Only official completed templates will be included in the exhibition. We will use the exact information you provide to describe your work to judges, in the catalogue & in the exhibition so please ensure you provide complete, grammatically correct and legible information.

6. CLOSING DATE: Entry forms & fees must be submitted by mail, courier, hand, email or via internet by 5pm, FRIDAY 07/06/2019.
No late entries will be accepted. Fees must be correct. Actual works must NOT be submitted at this time. See clause 8.

7.ALTERATIONS: No alterations to entry information, including sale price and artist statements, can be made between the closing time for entry forms, 5pm, Fri 7/06/2019 & the time of exhibition. Please contact us if you wish to make amendments prior to closing date.

8. SUBMIT WORK TO: THE CONVENOR, WAIMARINO ART AWARDS, C/- THE OLD VOLCANO CAFE, 43 SEDDON ST, RAETIHI 4632. Between 10 am and 4pm from Mon 10/06/2019 - Fri 14/06/2019. Work can be couriered, mailed or hand delivered

OR Hand delivered to THE OLD VOLCANO CAFE, 43 SEDDON ST, RAETIHI on Fri 14/06/19 from 4-6pm or THE ROYAL THEATRE, RAETIHI on Sun 23/06/19 9am–12 noon.

9. You must attach a detachable label to your work with your name, name of work, contact details, sale price and a copy of your Artist’s Statement
if you have one. All transit costs to be covered by the entrant and works must be suitably packaged in reusable packaging, in which unsold works can be returned.

10. AWARDS EVENING: All entrants will receive 2 invites to the Awards Evening at The Royal Theatre, Seddon Street, Raetihi, on Tues 02/07/2019 at 7.00pm Extra invites may be requested at waimarinoart@outlook.com, but are subject to limited numbers. Light refreshments will be served.

11. JUDGING: The judges’ decisions are final. No discussion or correspondence can be entered into.

12. CLOSURE: The exhibition closes SAT 13/07/19 at 5pm. All works must remain on display until the end of the exhibition.
Works may be collected from the Royal Theatre from 5-6pm on Sat 13/07/2019 & from 10am to 1pm on Sun 14/07/2019.
Entrants must provide named, prepaid courier tickets for works to be returned by courier. These works to be dispatched by Thurs 18/07/2019.
Works not collected or submitted without a courier ticket will be left at the Old Volcano Cafe, 43 Seddon St, Raetihi. Collection must be by Fri 26/07/2019.

12. INSURANCE IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE ENTRANT AT ALL TIMES. Whilst every care will be taken with handling, storage and packing, no responsibility will be accepted by the organizers for any loss or damage in transit or at any other time.

13. SALE OF WORK: One of the stated missions of the Waimarino Art Awards is:

To provide an accessible outlet for the sale of affordable, local & varied works of art for the benefit of creators and purchasers.

14. SPECIAL CLAUSE: Your entry will only be accepted if you have completed the agreement clause on the entry form acknowledging acceptance of these General Terms and Conditions of Entry and individual category conditions.

CATEGORY SPECIFIC TERMS

WAIMARINO ART AWARDS 2019 SPECIFIC CONDITIONS FOR PAINTING,
DRAWING & MIXED MEDIA ENTRIES
In conjunction with the 2019 WAA General Terms and Conditions at

1.) MEDIA AND SUPPORT: These categories cater for work in Oil, Acrylic, Pencil, Gouache, Pen, Ink, Washes, Watercolour, and Mixed Media. Supports can include Canvas, Paper, Hardboard, Stone, wood, or any other support that is light enough to hang without needing fortified hanging hardware.

2.) SIZE LIMIT: No work may exceed 1.5 square meters including any frame.

3.) EXHIBITION READY: All entries must be able to be hung and must be submitted ready for exhibition purposes, with the suitable hanging fixtures attached. All works must have holes for hanging fixtures already drilled with screws, hooks or cords taped securely to the reverse of the work to prevent them from being damaged or scraping other works during transit, storage or the hanging process.

4.) NOVICE ARTIST AWARD: This category is only open to artists who have not exhibited their work at the Waimarino Art Awards previously. There is no age limit for this award.

5.) YOUNG ARTIST AWARD: No complete NCEA art boards will be accepted in this category. Individual works taken from NCEA portfolios are acceptable if presented individually. All entrants must be aged between 14 and 18 years of age when the work is completed.

6.) JUNIOR ARTIST AWARDS: Junior Artist Award (10-13 yrs) category entrants must be aged 10-13 yrs when the work is completed
Entrants for the Junior Artist Awards (5-9 yrs) category must be aged 5-9 years when the work is completed.

7.) ARTIST STATEMENT TEMPLATE: Artist statements are optional. If you indicate in your entry form that you wish to complete one to be displayed with your work, it must be completed on an official template which can be downloaded here. Completed statements must be emailed to us by 7th June 2019. An exact copy of the Artist statement must be included with the work when it is submitted. Email waimairnoarts@outlook.com if you haven’t received your template.

If you indicate in your entry form that you wish to complete one to be displayed with your work, it must be completed on an official template which can be dowloaded here or requested at waimarinoart@outlook.com. It is optional, must be less than 100 words and your name must not appear in the body of the statement. We recommend typing the words, for clarity, but if you handwrite your label, ensure it is clear and correct as we will display your copy.

9.) PACKAGING: All work, unless being delivered and collected by hand, must be securely packaged, in packaging that can be reused to return the works to the entrant at the end of the exhibition. String is very useful for keeping bundles of packaging together in storage and can be easily reused when repacking the works. Please ensure that outside packaging is clearly labelled with your name and return address and all layers of packaging are named. If you require us to courier work back to you, you must include prepaid courier tickets when submitting your work.

CATEGORY SPECIFIC TERMS

SPECIFIC CONDITIONS FOR 3D ENTRIES
In conjunction with the 2019 WAA General Terms and Conditions at https://www.waimarinoartawards.co.nz

Since we are limited in space, display hardware & lighting for 3D entries, the following applies to this category.

1.) OPEN 3D CATEGORY: This is an open category open to all ages for 3D artwork of all techniques including sculpting, carving, moulding, casting, pottery and repurposing and all mediums including, but not limited to, clay, wood, stone, ceramics, glass, metal, & stone, textiles and found materials.

2.) YOUTH 3D CATEGORY: This category is open to those who are under 19. This is an open category open to all 3D artwork of all techniques including sculpting, carving, moulding, casting, pottery and repurposing and all mediums including, but not limited to, clay, wood, stone, ceramics, glass, metal, & stone, textiles and found materials.

3.) DISPLAY: We only have limited plinths and display boxes and are currently attempting to secure funding for some more display hardware. If you are able and willing to provide your own plinth, support or display box, please indicate this on your entry form so we can plan accordingly

• The work MUST be robust enough to endure normal handling by a variety of volunteer staff without specialised equipment. No responsibility will be accepted by the organisers for loss or damage in transit or at any other time.
• The work must be able stand alone, (on the floor on a plinth) or hang normally on the display boards, without specialized supports or equipment.

4.) DIMENSIONS: Due to space restrictions, no single work shall exceed the dimensions of 100cm3 excluding display hardware and must be light enough for one person to lift and maneuver into place.

5.) EXHIBITION READY: All entries must be ready to display. If work needs a support to free stand, it must be supplied by the entrant, be self-explanatory to set up and not make the work significantly larger than that the dimensions set in Clause 2. Any fixing hardware attached should be taped over to prevent damage to the work or other works during the transit, storage or set up and pack up process.

GENERAL PHOTOGRAPHY TOPICS: In the 2019 Awards there are two themes : o THE ART OF NATURE

o LOVE IS A FOUR LEGGED WORD
How you choose to relate to these topics through your entry is up to you, but It is vital that your work clearly shows a

relationship to one of these topics. It is one of the aspects the works will be judged upon.

NOVICEPHOTOGRAPHYAWARD:Thisisanopenawardandworkscandepictanysubject.Entrantscanbeof any age and must be a first-time photography entrant to the Waimarino ArtAwards

YOUNG PHOTOGRAPHY AWARD: This is an open award and entries can depict any subject. Entrants must be 14 - 18 years of age

JUNIOR PHOTOGRAPHY AWARD: It is open award and entries can depict any subject. Entrants mustbe 5-13 years of age.

ELIGIBILITY

There are no age limits in the general photography categories.

Photographic entries are not eligible for the Premier Award. The Premier Award has been a visual art award since the inception of the Ohakune Art Awards back in 1977. We are always keen to secure a sponsor for a Premier Photography Award, but this has not been forthcoming too date.

Photographic entries from the Ruapehu Area are eligible for the Best Entry from the RuapehuAward

Photographic entries are eligible for the People’s Choice Award
